As a woman from a disadvantaged background, I wanted more to do with my life. My inspiration was learning and upskilling myself, finding avenues to support myself, and ways to empower others around me to do the same. It wasn’t easy for me to find a university place, because supporting and paying the fees remained a challenge.
I did manage to secure a scholarship, but that led to many individuals asking how to do it. It was new to them that a disadvantaged individual, from an asylum-seeking background, could move forth and get a scholarship at a designated university.
Our Business Philosophy
The business aims to work with individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, especially from asylum-seeking, refugee, limited leave to remain, and humanitarian protection backgrounds. It involves working with other marginalised-focused organisations, that aim to support individuals who have faced difficult challenges in accessing education or employment, for reasons related to their immigration status or academic level.
